These days, the term "Revenue Cycle Management" (RCM) has generally replaced "full-service billing" as a more accurate descriptor of the services our team provides. For clients who do not manage their own revenue cycle, this comprehensive service shifts daily responsibilities of charge entry, claims filing, receipt posting, banking, statement generation, claims follow-up and answering patient calls from the clinic to us.
Akamai has teams of account managers that oversee the billing for about 100 practices ranging from solo practitioners to multi-specialty groups. Our US-based billing teams are located in four offices' our main office is in Honolulu, an equal-sized second office is in Kapolei. We have two remote offices; one on the Big Island and one in Texas.
This aspect of our business is overseen by Stephanie Akimoto with the assistance of her Revenue Cycle Management Supervisors, Jessica Fiesta and Kelly Brown. They are backed by our staff accountant Mandy Errecart, as well as a complement of trainers, programmers, credentialing specialists and software and technical support staff.
Office-based clients using our RCM services have full use of our impressive Akamai PM software for scheduling, reporting, taking personal payments and viewing patient account details. Nearly all make use of its easy-to-use scheduling system and integration with their practice EMR. Generally, billing details are provided by the practice in real-time through an EMR interface.
